Caught in a clash between the demands of her superiors, a terrified society, and her vibrant curiosity for the entity knocking on their door, Nieve must find a balance between holding on to humanity and letting the world bend her into a shape of its own.

The remnants of civilization's feeble attempt to humanize the eldritch powers on the approach earn the entity a name: The Beyond. Not far from Suhlmore’s outer districts, through stone lined paths and across many fields, a research hall is nestled away from the chaos. Candles illuminate each window across its four stories, a beacon in the dark. The marble floors of the foyer have been scrubbed clean of dust and debris as twenty three years of vacancy come to an end. Finally, the position of Biotheologist will be filled once again. The building shines with a veneer of promise to embolden even the most skeptic minds present at the gala held in honor of the occasion. Nieve leans over the railing on the upper level of the building. Below, the entry hall and foyer gleam at the foot of the grand staircase. Benefactors, Scholars from the Academy, and well-to-do members of society file in one after another. Key figures pass by, all victims of Nieve’s stare as she pulls them apart
