Developed by Bayer and established through its Xpro® fungicide platform, bixafen is a Group 7 SDHI fungicide designed to protect cereals and other major crops against economically important fungal diseases. Its systemic activity and role in high-performance mixtures with fungicides such as prothioconazole have made it an important component of modern cereal disease-management programmes. The report retains 195 patent families across 82 consolidated owner groups. Bayer’s originator estate holds 35 families and is the only owner group represented across all five substantive protection layers, but extensive follow-on activity is visible from Chinese manufacturers, multinational crop-protection companies and specialist formulators.

Combination products dominate, with 116 families held by 53 groups. Thirty-one partner active ingredients are specifically identified in claims, while another 72 families claim combinations in open terms. The upstream estate contains seven compound and 41 process and intermediate families; seven families address formulation and 22 protect defined uses. Overall, 134 families have a granted-active or national-pending reading, and 39 live families reach their nominal term within five years.
