R.I.S.E.: 24-Week Literacy and Leadership Development Program

R.I.S.E. is a 24-week Literacy and Leadership Development Program for Grades 4–5 designed to help students read deeply, reflect intentionally, communicate effectively, and lead through action. Built around relatable student-centered stories and authentic classroom experiences, R.I.S.E. connects literacy instruction with the habits, choices, and character traits students need to become confident leaders.

The program is organized into four six-week leadership cycles:

⭐ Cycle 1: Evaluate Yourself — Work Ethic, Good Habits, Good Choices, Routine, Respect, and Communication

⭐ Cycle 2: Growth Mindset — Deal With Pressure, Get Better Every Day, Accept Constructive Criticism, Perspective, Learn From Others, and Self-Assess

⭐ Cycle 3: Show Initiative — Be Helpful, Maximize Time, Critically Think, Step Up, Be Prepared, and Take Ownership

⭐ Cycle 4: Leave a Legacy — Be the Best, Be Intentional, Make Others Better, Influence the Room, Build the Vision, and Leave a Legacy

Each weekly focus follows a consistent five-day instructional structure:

📖 Day 1 — #ReadBeyond: Read a leadership-based narrative and respond using text evidence.

🪞 Day 2 — #LeadFromWithin: Make connections to self, text, the world, and leadership.

🎯 Day 3 — #LeadInAction: Apply the leadership skill to an authentic scenario and develop a plan.

⭐ Day 4 — #LeaveYourMark: Set a commitment, create an action plan, and consider personal impact.

🚀 Day 5 — #FreeToLead: Choose a challenge, demonstrate learning, provide evidence, and reflect.

R.I.S.E. can be used during morning meetings, advisory, literacy blocks, enrichment, intervention, leadership development, or character education. The flexible structure allows teachers to complete one page per day or adapt lessons to fit their instructional schedule.

With 24 weeks, 120 literacy and leadership lessons, student reflection, writing, discussion, real-world application, and choice-based challenges, R.I.S.E. helps students understand that leadership is not simply a title—it is how they think, respond, serve, grow, and influence the people around them.
