Fall In - A Prequel Novel
Two words at a gate in the pines.
The prequel to The Black Sands of Suribachi. Free.
North Carolina, 1942. For a hundred and sixty-seven years the United States Marine Corps would not take a Black man. Then the order came, and the first recruits stepped off the bus at a camp in the pines called Montford Point, set apart from the main base at Camp Lejeune and from every white Marine in it.
Fall In follows them from the gate to the pier: the drill instructors who were harder on them than any white Marine would ever be, the schools, the guns they were given and the guns they were not, the mail calls and the insults, and the doctrine of readiness that made them Marines whether the Corps wanted them or not. And then the orders, the trains west, and the companies bound for an island no one had heard of yet.
Before the island. Before the count. Before the keeping.
A full-length novel and the doorway into the series. Then follow the Montford Point Marines ashore in Book One, D-Day and the Volcanic Dust.
