Johannes Brahms' Wiegenlied, Op. 49, No. 4 (Brahms' Lullaby/Cradle Song) arr. for recorder & piano by Joel Denney

$1.99 PDF includes 8.5x11 piano score and solo recorder part.

This famous song by Brahms was written to celebrate the birth of a child of one of Brahms' friends. Brahms took the lyrics of the first verse from the 1805-1808 German folk poetry collection Des Knaben Wunderhorn, and later added a second verse from an 1849 Georg Scherer poem. An English translation of both verses is reproduced below courtesy of Wikipedia:

Good evening, good night,

With roses covered,

With cloves adorned,

Slip under the covers.

Tomorrow morning, if God wills,

you will wake once again.

Good evening, good night.

By angels watched,

Who show you in your dream

the Christ-child's tree.

Sleep now blissfully and sweetly,

see paradise in your dreams.
