Obatala, a central figure in Yorùbá cosmology, is revered as the creator of the Earth and humanity. Myths tell of a moment of drunken error that caused him deep regret, an experience that shaped his vow to watch over and protect people with disabilities. Olokun, often described as the sovereign of the ocean’s depths, is honored across West Africa and its diaspora as the divine keeper of the sea. Mysterious, unfathomable and wise.

This short story is more than an adaptation. It is a marker of my early works. Scorned stands as a piece of my creative foundation, capturing a moment I blend cultural mythology with contemporary storytelling.
