Curious about myofunctional therapy but not quite ready to commit to a therapy program?

Maybe you've heard about tongue posture. Maybe you've started noticing that you breathe through your mouth more than you thought. Maybe you clench your jaw, carry tension through your face and neck, or have caught yourself wondering, "Where is my tongue actually supposed to rest?"

You may be interested in myofunctional therapy but aren't ready to commit to individualized care. Or maybe you simply want to become more aware of your own patterns at home.

That's exactly why I created RESTORE.

RESTORE gives you an approachable place to begin. It is not a diagnosis or an individualized treatment plan. Instead, it provides education, awareness, and foundational guidance to help you better understand the way you breathe, rest, and function.

Sometimes the first step is simply noticing.

Most of us don't think about what our mouth is doing when we're not eating or talking. But when you start paying attention, you may notice things you've never noticed before.

  • Where is your tongue right now?
  • Are your lips resting comfortably together?
  • Is your jaw relaxed?
  • Are you breathing through your nose or your mouth?
  • Are you holding tension in your face or neck?

RESTORE helps you start asking these questions and gives you simple tools to explore them.

Think of RESTORE as an introduction to myofunctional awareness.

RESTORE is not a replacement for individualized myofunctional therapy.

It is a foundational educational resource for people who want to learn more about oral function without immediately beginning a formal therapy program.

You can explore the concepts at your own pace, practice simple awareness activities, and begin recognizing patterns you may have never paid attention to before. For some people, RESTORE may simply be a helpful educational resource. For others, it may be the first step toward deciding they're ready for a comprehensive myofunctional evaluation and individualized care.

RESTORE may be a good place to start if...

• You've recently learned about myofunctional therapy and want to understand it better.

• You're curious about your own tongue and oral resting posture.

• You've noticed yourself mouth breathing and want to become more aware of your breathing patterns.

• You frequently carry tension through your jaw, face, head, or neck.

• You aren't ready to commit to individualized myofunctional therapy.

• Access to a myofunctional therapist is limited where you live.

• One-on-one therapy isn't accessible to you right now.

• You're waiting to begin therapy and want foundational education in the meantime.

• You simply want something you can explore at home.

You don't need to be a therapy patient to start becoming more aware of your patterns.

What will you explore?

This isn't about doing everything perfectly.

RESTORE isn't a list of exercises you have to master. It's an opportunity to become more connected to patterns that usually happen automatically.

Making foundational education more accessible.

One of the reasons I created RESTORE was to provide another level of access. Comprehensive myofunctional therapy is individualized care. It involves assessment, clinical decision-making, ongoing guidance, and a treatment plan specific to the person. And sometimes people aren't ready for that. You may not have access to a therapist nearby. Individualized care may not fit into your life right now. You may be interested but still unsure whether myofunctional therapy is something you want to pursue. Or you may simply want to learn.

I wanted there to be somewhere for you to start.

RESTORE makes foundational education and awareness available without requiring you to begin a full therapy program.

Why I Created RESTORE

As a dental hygienist, licensed massage therapist, and certified myofunctional therapist, I get to look at oral function through several different lenses. I see the tongue, breathing patterns, the jaw and facial muscles, the neck, and how often people simply haven't been taught to pay attention to any of it. RESTORE brings some of the foundational education I share every day into an approachable resource you can explore from home.

And if you decide you're ready for more?

RESTORE may help you recognize patterns you'd like to explore more deeply. That's where individualized care is different. A comprehensive myofunctional consultation allows a trained provider to evaluate your specific anatomy, function, symptoms, compensations, goals, and needs and determine whether individualized therapy or collaboration with another healthcare provider may be appropriate.

RESTORE doesn't make that determination for you. Instead, it gives you education and awareness that may help you make a more informed decision about what you'd like your next step to be.

You don't have to start with therapy.

You can start by paying attention.

To your tongue. To your lips. To your breath. To your jaw. To your face and neck. To the patterns happening quietly throughout your day.

RESTORE gives you a place to start.

Foundational education. Guided awareness. At-home exploration.
