Three-Time Finalist For The Realm Awards

Narrated by the author.

Alísa never asked to feel the dragons' pain.

Every slayer has psychic powers, but none feel what she does—the agony of dragons as her clan hunts them, their emotions bleeding into her mind uncontrollably. As the chief's daughter, she should be strong, confident, and unmoving in their clan’s mission. Instead, her persistent stammer marks her as weak, and if the clan discovers her uncontrollable empathic connection to the dragons, they'd call her something far worse: traitor.

Her father knows why. But he won't tell her.

When a chance meeting with a young dragon reveals they aren’t the soulless monsters her clan believes them to be, she turns to her father for answers. His response? Spirit her away so the dragons will never find her, keep her in the dark, protect her from a truth she's desperate to understand. But Alísa is done being protected. If the slayers won't give her answers, she'll find them among the dragons—even if it means becoming the very thing her father fears most.

The truth could bridge two worlds. Or destroy them both.

Among the so-called enemy, Alísa discovers a war built on lies, a connection that runs deeper than blood, and a destiny she never imagined. With time running out and both sides demanding her loyalty, Alísa must find the courage to speak—even when her voice breaks, even when no one wants to listen. Because the dragon song inside her isn't a curse. It's the key to everything.

I loooooooooove this book! It's now one of my favorite books (and that's not so easy to accomplish)! It's epic!

M. Bruhn takes her time telling the story, it's not rushed, but far from boring.

The character development is perfect, comprehensible and absolutely believable. You'll find yourself here and there, whether it's in the humans or the dragons (or the dreki? ;)

I can't wait for the next book!!! ❤️❤️❤️🐲

As someone who is probably quite outside Bruhn's target demographic, I found this adventure both enthralling and heart-rending. Hours after the story was over, I found myself missing the characters, wondering what they'd do next.

Bruhn also did an excellent job with the audiobook narration, especially considering the abundance of music woven into the story. You'd never believe the entire production was an indie effort.

I can't wait for the next volume.
