The Candidate Selection Playbook, HR Professional Package
Candidate selection is one of the highest-leverage systems an HR function can own. This package gives your organization the documented infrastructure to make the process consistent, clear, and easier to apply across roles, hiring managers, and openings.
Built from the candidate selection system FusionPoint HR uses in client engagements, this package gives your team the guidance, tools, sequencing, training materials, and support documents needed to strengthen selection at its own pace, without the timeline or cost of a custom consulting project.
The price reflects a complete selection infrastructure, not a template pack: eight documented selection phases, fourteen working tools, legal-risk guidance across eight exposure areas, a competency framework with 96 behavioral interview questions, and a full training session with facilitator materials. Once tailored, it becomes the standard your organization can use every time a role opens.
Everything included in the package
Together, these materials give HR a ready-made selection system: a clear sequence, manager guidance, practical legal guardrails, editable interview tools, scoring expectations, and documentation standards for every opening.
The Candidate Selection Playbook, HR Professional edition (70 pages), walks HR through eight selection phases, from process design to accepted offer. It includes a Legal Risks chapter covering eight exposure areas, an Ask This / Not That question chart, and fourteen practical tools and templates: a RACI chart, competency guide, question bank, structured interview guide, interviewer checklist, bias watchlist, resume screening and phone screen tools, reference and background check guides, weighted scorecard, decision record, offer letter framework, and three not-selected letters.
The Candidate Selection Hiring Manager Reference Guide (33 pages) gives interviewers a practical, manager-friendly version of the process. Four sections cover interview readiness, interview conduct, scoring and calibration, and final decision-making, along with the legal limits that apply to every interview and six tools completed directly. The same guide appears in both packages.
A 26-slide training deck with speaker notes on every slide gives HR a ready-to-deliver 60-minute session for hiring managers or interview panels. It helps them understand, practice, and reinforce the process instead of simply receiving the materials by email.
A 14-page training facilitator guide adds slide-by-slide notes, timing, discussion questions, two practice activities, and options for shorter or longer sessions. It gives whoever runs the session a practical facilitation plan to support consistent delivery.
A three-page Playbook Companion helps you tailor every document in the package to your organization’s roles, policies, and hiring practices.
A one-page User Guide shows who reads each document, how responsibilities divide between HR and the hiring manager, and how to put the package to use before your next open role.
Who it is for
This package is designed for HR professionals who own, support, or guide candidate selection. It is especially useful for one-person HR teams building a process from scratch, HR managers and directors standardizing hiring practices across the organization, recruiters and coordinators preparing hiring managers, and generalists accountable for selection quality even when other people conduct the interviews.
How you can use it
All six files are editable in Word and PowerPoint. Customization prompts show where to add your role titles, approval steps, escalation contacts, and documentation standards, so the finished materials reflect how your organization operates. Use the package as written or adapt it to fit your needs. Either way, you are starting from a complete system rather than a blank page.
How this compares to a consulting engagement
This package includes the same core content used in full client engagements, delivered in a self-serve format. A tailored project typically adds discovery, branding alignment, a train-the-trainer session for the HR team, and follow-up help with final edits. Full engagements are commonly two to three times the cost because they include advisory time and implementation support. If you would rather have the materials tailored to your organization, email support@fusionpointhr.com and we can talk through the best-fit option.
