You are purchasing admission and handouts for a virtual class that takes place via Zoom.
Wednesday, June 17
5-7pm Pacific Time; 6pm Mountain Time, 7pm Central, 8pm Eastern time
Class will be recorded and the recording will be available for 30 days afterwards.
What would your knitting life be like if you never had to "get gauge" again? What if you knew how to knit just about any pattern in just about any yarn?
In this class we'll unravel the secrets behind knitting to your gauge, not that of the designer. Working through a pattern of your choice, you'll learn how to evaluate the differences between the given gauge and your own and make the changes necessary to knit the project in the way that works for you. You'll learn how to adjust for differences in both stitch and row gauge, how to be a "pattern detective" when schematics are not provided, and how to work the simple math that frees you from gauge tyranny.
Homework: Select a pattern and yarn for a garment you want to make. Using your selected yarn and needles that give you a fabric you like, knit a gauge swatch in the stitch pattern specified in the pattern (if none is specified, knit a swatch in stockinette stitch that is at least 6 x 6"). Wash the swatch and lay it out flat to dry.
Supplies: Bring your gauge swatch, a copy of the pattern that you can reference and mark up, pencil, calculator (the one on your phone is fine).
Level: Intermediate to Advanced; you should have knit at least one garment before.
Day and Time: Wednesday, June 17 at 5-7pm Pacific Time (6pm Mountain Time, 7pm Central, 8pm Eastern time).
You will the Zoom access info immediately upon purchasing the class, both on the website and in your email inbox. Please save the link somewhere accessible. If you don't see these in your email inbox, please check your spam filter and then reach out to me at deviousknitter@gmail.com. You will receive a class handout via email a few days in advance of class.
I record each virtual class session and make the recording available to registered participants for 30 days after the date of the class, so if something prevents you from attending, you will still have access to the class recording and all materials.
