A good, hardwearing substitute would be Álafoss Lopi, or any bulky weight yarn that knits at 3.5 sts to an inch(2.5)cm, on size 10(6mm).

Approximately 150 yards(137) meters of bulky yarn that knits to gauge. For a longer hat, you’ll need more yarn.
