The Solopreneur’s MVB is a digital booklet to load into ChatGPT that prompts it to lead a conversation with you to design, or refine, your MVB.

It is specifically designed for Solopreneurs who exchange their time for money.

The conversation with AI provides two different outcomes depending on your stage of business development:

For Established Freelancers – It refines your MVB to discover your Cruising Speed. As a solopreneur, we can only grow so much. We have capacity limits. At some point we can and should figure out that level of operation that produces the income we want, with the volume of clients we want, within the time limits we set. This is our “cruising speed”. It is what we want every month to be. Make the money we want in the time we choose to commit. Time is money.

For Startups – It designs your MVB prototype—a concise snapshot of your first-year business to visualize your viability and operational potential. It is also a spreadsheet that allows us to examine different combinations of price, volume, and time so to envision what this idea requires and returns.

The conversation takes 1 hour and produces your MVB that contains the essential details of your business:

Client [] Outcome [] Gig

Why [] capacity-revenue-price

Pro forma [] Messaging [] Lead gen

As a “time-for-money-solopreneur”, what do we really want? Maybe this …

[1] To produce the revenue we planned each & every month.

[2] Deliver joy to our clients.

[3] Have all the time we need, either for our clients, or other concerns.

[4] And to achieve these 3 goals as soon as possible.

If these goals sound good, grab a copy of this booklet. You can reuse it forever, and whenever. It is NOT a subscription. You own it and can use it over and over again.

Whether you have just the kernel of an idea, or a practice that is performing well, engaging with AI gives you a forever resource to help you think, and research, new thoughts and ideas. Grab a copy. Run your business through it and then ask “How can you help me improve my business?”.

The MBV Tool you created is brilliant. I'd been pondering an idea, for a few months, I don't know if I'll pursue it or not, but in about 20 minutes it really helped shape it. Very cool system with uploading that document to turn ChatGPT into your own little application.

I had several ideas in my head. This tool helped me compare them to each other and decide which one was most likely to gain some traction first.

“When I was starting out, I had no idea how to price my services or build a real business — I was just chasing money and quickly became a workaholic. What this tool offers is a completely new way of thinking: not just about time and income, but about designing a life where work fits into your life, not takes it over. That kind of boundary is huge, and I wish I’d had this perspective back then.”

I escaped corporate in 2008 ... moved from Philly (Go Birds) to Charlotte (Go Panthers) .. had a plan to meet 100 people to learn what my next career move might be.

I began to meet folks who were starting their own businesses, which did not sound like businesses to me. So I was introduced to freelancers and startups and realized very soon that . . . I wanted to be a freelancer because I did not want to be an employee or an employer.

My re-education began. Everything I was taught about sales and marketing for BIG Businesses was confusing me. Freelancers (also known as startups, self-employed, solopreneurs, and one-person business ventures) are unique, and it has taken a few years of trial and error to figure this out.

My mission has been (and still is) to figure out what is the least we need to know in order to design a freelance business.

That's what this guide is about.

I am well connected to the entrepreneurial ecosystem here in Charlotte and am grateful to a great many people who have helped me in this journey.

And I'm delighted to share this Guide with everyone with an idea to utilize their superpowers for the benefit of those they want to serve.

Freelancing is freedom, especially if it is based on our Ikigai, a Japanese concept I hope you will research further.

If we are earning money, doing what we love, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients . . . life is good.

All the best
