Music therapy is an evidence-based clinical use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy Georgia program. Music therapists working in Georgia must be credentialed by the Music Therapy Association of Georgia (MTAG) and/or be board certified by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT). The best time to take up music therapy is during the Georgia Music Therapy Week which is celebrated every year from February 1-7. During this week, various events and activities are organized by MTAG to create awareness about the profession and its benefits. Music therapists working in GA must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in music therapy from an accredited institution and complete an internship of at least 900 hours.
