Care Add-On for the Harassment & Sexual Harassment Prevention Kit
Nobody is exempt. Nobody is abandoned.
From 30 October 2026, care providers can be held liable when a carer is harassed by a client, a resident, a family member or a visitor, unless they took all reasonable steps to prevent it. A health condition or age may explain the behaviour. It does not excuse it, and it does not remove your duty to protect your staff.
The Care Add-On gives you the care-specific documents the general kit cannot: how to protect carers who work alone in people's homes and on night shifts, how to keep caring for the client at the same time, and how to work with the social worker, the commissioner and the regulator while you do it.
What's included (18 files, all fully editable):
- Care Compliance Audit (Excel): 43 care-specific questions in 5 areas, self-scoring, with a gap report, action plan, reasons log and a Care Incident Log
- Care Guide: the law and the standards for care, the five principles, and the two-track approach (support plan for the client, risk assessment for the worker)
- Client Risk Assessment and Behaviour Support Plan: screening questions at assessment, the full assessment, the support plan, a one-page carer briefing sheet, and two worked examples
- Client File Statement: the one-page "how we work together" statement for every client's paper and electronic file, with the duty-to-inform checklist, scripts, and a print-ready version for your headed paper
- 17 letters: to the social worker, commissioner, GP, OT and district nurse; to families and friends (standards, warning, final, supportive); to the client; suspension and ending the service; agencies; and three rollout letters for existing clients, commissioners and new visitors
- Contract, Statement of Purpose and Service User Guide wording: clauses for private contracts and admission agreements (including cameras and recording), the commissioner protocol, Statement of Purpose wording for CIW and CQC with the notification steps, and print-ready visitor and home notices
- Escalation Ladder and Continuity of Care: five levels with separate actions for clients and for family or visitors, who decides, who is told, the "before you suspend" checks, emergency withdrawal, and what to do when the commissioner refuses to fund two carers
- Lone Working and Visit Safety Protocol: check-ins, two code phrases, the right to leave, cameras in the home, alarms and apps, double-up criteria, night visits, a carer card and a manager checklist
- 8 fictional care cases worked through, across home care and care homes, England and Wales
- 4 toolbox talks for team meetings, with a 12-month calendar
- Policy review recommendations for every care policy, with a care addendum for your harassment policy
- Care posters: client home notice, care home visitor notice, "you can step away" staff poster, carer wallet cards and a one-page manager's ladder, with space for your logo
Who it's for: registered managers, owners and care coordinators of home care services and care homes, especially those with lone workers, night staff and no HR.
Requires the Essentials or Professional kit (it refers to the policy, forms and workbook in them).
Add care training: we can deliver Care Staff (£495) and Care Manager (£595) training for you, or buy the ready-to-run Care Staff or Care Manager Training Pack (£2,000 each, or £3,500 for both) and run it yourself.
