I’ve been naming my patterns for baked goods for a while, now, but usually the connection between the name and the pattern is a little more obscure. This one is really simple: the columns of cables reminded me of madeleines. That’s it. Now I’m feeling quite hungry, so instead of belaboring the point, I’ll leave you to it. Happy stitching!

SIZES
S (M, L) – Finished circumference 17.5” (20”, 22.5”)/ 45 cm (51 cm, 57 cm)

A note about sizing: most people prefer their hats to fit snugly. Choose the size that is smaller than your actual head circumference.

Fingering weight yarn, 180 (220, 280) yds; 165 (202, 253) m

Sample shown knit in Moondrake Yarn Co. Soft Fingering, 437 yd/100 gm, single-ply superwash merino wool

GAUGE
4” (10 cm) square = 32 stitches x 40 rows in stockinette (note: much of this hat is knit in seed stitch, so keep that in mind when choosing a size if your gauge loosens up significantly in seed stitch)
