campestral (adj.) - of or relating to fields or open country : rural.

I like to go for wanders on brisk mornings, but my hands always end up chilled. Tucking them into my sleeves is one option, but that’s not terribly comfortable. Fingerless mitts do the trick much better.

These mitts are graded to three sizes and feature a mix of coin lace and bobbles climbing up the back of each hand. The texture reminds me of dried grasses in autumn, the season when I start needing fingerless mitts again.

Sizes: S, M, L. Finished mitt circumference 7 (7.5, 8) inches /18 (19, 20.5) cm.

Materials: Fingering weight yarn, 170 (190, 210) yds / 156 (174, 192) m. Sample shown in Magpie Fibers Swanky Sock, 80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon; 400 yds (366 m) per 4 oz (115 g).

Gauge: 4” (10 cm) square = 32 stitches x 40 rows in stockinette.

Needles: One set of needles for your preferred style of small-circumference knitting in a size to match gauge listed above. Suggested needle size: US 1.5 (2.5 mm).

Tools: Three stitch markers. Two pieces of waste yarn for holding thumb stitches. Tapestry needle for weaving in ends. Crochet hook, US size 1 (2.35 mm) or a size slightly smaller than needle size used to achieve gauge listed above.

Skill level: Intermediate. Techniques: knitting in the round, increases, crocheted bobbles.
