This Finish the Picture resource includes 10 creativity challenge pages. Each page gives students part of a drawing, and they continue the image, fill the page and complete the artwork with their own ideas, then color or shade the final picture.

Because every page starts with only a few lines, students use creative thinking, problem solving and visual imagination to decide what it becomes, so a whole class can start on the same page and still end up with very different results. It is written for teachers, art teachers and homeschoolers, and it is just print and go.

WHAT TEACHERS ARE SAYING

★★★★★ “I used these on the second day of school. I passed out several different pics and then had those students who completed the same pics stand up and show their results. We talked about how we may see things differently and learn differently but we all have value and a lot to contribute. They really enjoyed it and saw the value in the lesson. Thank you for the resource.” LeeAnn W.

HOW TO USE IT

Photocopy the pages and keep them ready. They keep fast finishers quiet, busy and at their seats while you help others, and you can also place them on desks as students come in. Use them as an early finisher or when-you’re-done activity, bell ringer, art warm-up, brain break, creativity center, sub plan, quiet independent work, or a back-to-school or end-of-year activity.

Students practice imagination, independent work, drawing confidence, visual planning, artistic decision-making, coloring and shading, and fine motor skills. Students can use markers, other drawing tools, color or shading to finish each picture.
