This is a pattern to knit a pair of muffatees worked using the stranded colourwork technique. They are worked the same from the bottom rib up and in the round.


These are a great match for our In Honour of Shieldmaidens hat.

yarn:

Yearling by Bloom Woolen Yarns; Worsted; 85%; Shetland, 15% Huacaya Alpaca; 120 yards (110 meters); 60g

approximate yarn amounts:

colour A (Carnelian) - 35 (40, 45, 50) g; 70 (80, 90, 100) yds / 65 (74, 83, 92) m

colour B (Natural Grey) - 13g; 26yds / 24m

needles:

3.5mm (us no 4) DPNs

4.0mm (us no 6) DPNs

gauge: 20 stitches x 24 rows = 4in/10cm

measured over stranded stockinette on larger needles

Some knitters work stranded knitting at a different gauge than single-colour knitting, change needles as needed to keep stitch gauge.

approximate finished size:

6.5 (7.25, 8, 8.5) in / 16.5 (18, 20.5, 21) cm to be worn with 0 - 0.5 in / 0 - 1.5 cm negative ease
