You don’t have to change everything at once. Start by noticing the path you already walk.

When something difficult happens, it can be easy to fall into a familiar response: overthinking, withdrawing, avoiding or being hard on yourself.

The Path You Practise offers a gentle space to explore what happens in those moments and consider what you might like to practise differently.

This guided journal is designed for reflection over 14 days, at your own pace. You can use it independently or alongside therapy, choosing the prompts that feel useful to you.

Inside the journal

• Starting-point reflections to explore what you would like to understand.

• Prompts for mapping situations, thoughts, emotions, body sensations, and responses.

• Thought-noticing exercises to explore your relationship with difficult thoughts.

• The “difficult passenger” metaphor for reflecting on discomfort and meaningful action.

• An avoidance map exploring immediate relief and longer-term costs.

• Values exercises to help you identify what matters to you.

• Small-step planning to connect reflection with everyday action.

• A two-page reusable daily worksheet organised around four stages: Notice, Make Space, Find Your Compass and Choose Your Step.

• Spacious writing areas, grouped exercises and PDF bookmarks for navigation.

• Prompts to prepare for therapy sessions and reflect afterwards.

• A 14-day review and a final compass for continuing your practice.

How to use it

Choose a few prompts and allow around 5–10 minutes for reflection, or take longer if you wish. You don't need to complete every page or use the journal for 14 consecutive days. For a brief check-in, print the two reusable daily sheets again or write your answers in a notebook. Use the fuller exercises when you want more depth. The therapy-session sections are optional.

What you receive

• One downloadable PDF containing 42 pages.

• A4 portrait layout with guided reflections and writing spaces.

• A printable resource: download, choose your pages, and print.

This is a digital product. No physical journal will be posted. The PDF does not contain interactive fillable fields. The two-page daily worksheet is reusable; the file does not include 14 separately preprinted daily entries.

Who it is for

Adults interested in self-awareness, values, and reflective practice, including people who want a companion for the time between therapy sessions. Therapists can review the journal as a resource to recommend to clients.

A gentle note

This journal is for education and personal reflection. It is not a diagnostic tool or a replacement for psychotherapy, medical care, or individual advice. You can skip exercises that feel unsuitable or overwhelming and discuss difficult material with your therapist if you are receiving therapy.

Notice the familiar path. Find what matters. Practise your next step.
