Surface Area Notes Activity | Rectangular Prisms Triangular Prisms Square Pyramids
Help students break down surface area with this Surface Area Interactive Notes Activity. This resource focuses on finding the surface area of rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, and square pyramids using notes, examples, and nets.
Surface area can be challenging when students are first learning it, so these notes are organized to help students see the parts of each three-dimensional figure. Students can use the notes, labeled figures, formulas, examples, and nets to connect each face of the figure to the total surface area.
Multiple versions are included so you can choose the level of support that fits your students. Use the completed notes as a reference, the partially completed versions for guided notes, or the blanker versions when students are ready to fill in more on their own.
Nets are also included for rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, and square pyramids. Each net includes written side lengths and labels for the shapes, helping students break apart the figure before finding the total surface area.
