Prairie Town Cowl
While inspiration for my patterns comes from lots of places, I think this might be the first time it came from falling in love with a sunset. I was driving at dusk, leaving my hometown in rural Minnesota, driving through a rolling sprawl of dry cornfields. As I drove west, all I could think about was color–the vibrant burnt orange at the horizon fading through peaches and golds into pale greens, turquoises, and teals.
Days later, I was still thinking about that gradient and how much I wanted to be able to sling a sunset around my neck. So, with the help of Britta at Baby Cat Yarn, I assembled a palette and sketched a plan for a simple cowl, gently flared to fall gracefully over your shoulders. No fancy frills, no hoops to jump through–just a stockinette cowl that marled the colors of that sunset together.
