About The Issue: Sista Bosso Magazine, October 2024 – Issue 34
In celebration of the International Day of Rural Women, this special October 2024 edition, The Rural Women Issue, delves into the resilience, strength, and impact of rural women across various sectors. We spotlight extraordinary women who are making significant strides in their communities, advocating for sustainability, cultural heritage, and digital empowerment.
This issue features inspiring stories from changemakers such as Gugulethu Mahlangu, CEO and founder of House Harvest, who champions renewable energy and sustainability (page 5), and Tebello Khanya, an advocate for the green economy and founder of Letzwash Laundry and Bonolo Scents (page 16). We honor the pivotal role of women as custodians of African identity (page 21) and celebrate the dynamic talents of Maetaa, a multi-talented rapper, farmer, model, and cinematographer (page 24).
We also take a look at Miss Teen Universe 2024, hosted in South Africa by the Unamandla-Isagoentle Foundation (page 28), and explore the critical contribution of rural women to agriculture and food security (page 37). Tshepang Montsho, an activist and mentor advocating for Alopecia Universalis, shares her journey (page 41). In addition, we highlight Arunma Oteh, who receives a Lifetime Achievement Recognition for her outstanding contributions (page 50).
Our cover sista, Olebogeng Tlhong, graces this issue with her multifaceted journey as an actress, presenter, voice over artist, content creator, and entrepreneur (page 61). This edition is packed with stories of empowerment, cultural pride, and practical advice, including delicious recipes like Creamy Peri-Peri Chicken Livers (page 57) and Vegan Pavlova with Mango (page 59).
