The difference between shared karma and individual karma
Ananda asked the World-Honored One, "How do sentient beings know what collective karma is? What is individual karma?"
Ananda, the World-Honored One, replied: "Karma arises from the accumulated good and evil deeds committed by people in their body, speech, mind, and actions throughout countless lifetimes. These are also called good karma and bad karma!"
1) Collective and Individual Good Karma: Like a group of people performing good deeds or giving alms, but differing in their level of dedication, most may receive small blessings, while some may receive great blessings!
2) Collective and Individual Bad Karma: Another group of people, who habitually commit evil, should fall into the three evil realms simultaneously due to the varying degrees of their bad karma. This is collective bad karma! However, among the three evil realms, killing is the most severe, resulting in Avici Hell! Sentient beings, remember: refrain from all evil! Practice all good—this is the teaching of all Buddhas!
