Carlos Learns to Read Thai is a Level 1 (L1) title in the Start Reading Thai series. It is intended for learners who already know the basics of Thai script — including consonants, vowels and tone markers — but are still building confidence reading complete sentences and natural Thai. The story is presented entirely in Thai script, without transliteration, so you can practise recognising words and patterns directly on the page.

The story follows Carlos as he builds a life in Thailand and decides to learn to read and write Thai. From puzzling over unfamiliar letters to discovering the satisfaction of reading his first stories, his experience may feel familiar to anyone learning the language.
