Installment 84 of Finding the Names completes Roll 10 — New Orleans Inward Manifests, 1844–1845 (National Archives Microfilm Publication M1895, Roll 10, NAID 173900399), images 721–783: 408 people on 32 manifests, transcribed name by name from the original records at the National Archives. Roll 10 totals 4,533 entries in Installments 78–84, and the project now stands at 54,451 entries.

Inside: the Lucy Ann's one Charleston sailing fills seven separate shippers' manifests, the clerks split on whether she was a brig or a schooner; Jack, 50, and Betsy, 40, cross with three little girls, their residence entered simply as "on board." The brig Lancaster's boarding officer counted 150 people at the Balize on Christmas Day — thirteen of them children who stand on no numbered line, folded into their mothers' entries; they are given their lines here. The barque Parthian's clerk entered two children under cross-references at the foot of his 126, one of them under two names. And Lydia, 74, shipped alone from St. Marks before Christmas, was inspected at New Orleans on New Year's Eve. The roll's last images are its end targets: "Roll 10 of 30 — End of Roll — Please Rewind."

Every name is transcribed by hand from the National Archives' own scans of the original manifests. Where a manifest and its certificate disagree, we print both. Nothing is guessed, and nobody is left out.
