Take the Guesswork Out of Walking Hadrian's Wall with Our Complete 7-Day Itinerary! 🥾

Planning to walk the famous Hadrian's Wall Path? Whether you're a first-time walker or an experienced adventurer, we know the feeling, we felt it too before our first walk. Working out all the details yourself can mean hours combing through scattered blog posts and forums, still guessing at accommodation, meals, and toilet stops along the way.

Get it wrong and you could end up scrambling for a place to stay or adding unplanned miles to an already long day.

That's exactly why we built this itinerary from our own walk, so you can feel confident and prepared from the very first step. Everything's already planned out: where to stay, where to eat, where to find toilets, and the insider tips that only come from actually walking the route ourselves, all in a 26-page guide, without the added cost of a tour company, and with the freedom to walk it your way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who created this itinerary?

Hi, I'm Anisa. Russell and I walked this route together, and I put together this itinerary based on that trip. I also run the Hadrian's Wall First Time Walkers Community, so I'm regularly hearing from other walkers about the questions and challenges that come up along the way.

Why should I pay for this instead of planning it myself?

You could put it together yourself with enough time and research, but most walkers find themselves piecing information together from all over the place and still second-guessing their choices once they're on the trail. This itinerary is everything we learned from walking the route ourselves, already organized and ready to go, for less than hiring a tour company, and you're still setting your own pace, not a tour guide's.

Is this suitable for a first-time long-distance walker?

We weren't in peak physical shape when we walked Hadrian's Wall ourselves, but we did follow a structured training plan beforehand and completed the whole route. Based on the day-by-day mileages in this itinerary, expect to average around 12-13 miles a day. That's trail distance only, so your actual daily total will likely be higher once you add the walk to and from your accommodation each night and any extra exploring at the sites along the way.

If two of us are walking together, do we each need to buy a copy?

No, one purchase covers your whole group. You'll get a single PDF (or two, if you buy the Both Ways bundle) to share with everyone you're walking with.

Is there a best time of year to walk?

The route works year-round, but we recommend planning your walk between May and September. You'll get better weather and more daylight, and many businesses and historic sites along the route close or run limited hours during the off-season.

Does this itinerary include maps?

No, this itinerary doesn't include maps. We recommend also getting the Trailblazer Guide: Hadrian's Wall Path, which includes 64 detailed hand-drawn maps covering the whole route.

If I already have a guidebook, do I still need this itinerary?

Guidebooks typically include a few sample itineraries, but they're usually just a rough day-by-day outline. This itinerary goes into much more detail: specific accommodation recommendations, where to eat, where to find toilets, and insider tips for each day, so you're not left to fill in the gaps yourself.

Is the 7-day schedule fixed, or can I adjust the pace?

This itinerary is set at 7 days, but that doesn't mean you need to walk fast or non-stop to keep up. You can take your time, stop for breaks, and explore more along the way.

Can I buy this as a gift?

Yes. At checkout, select Payhip's "Give as a gift" option and enter the recipient's name and email instead of your own.

Is this a physical product?

No, this is a digital download. You'll receive a PDF that you can print at home or use on your phone or tablet.

Is this product up to date?

This itinerary was last updated August 4, 2026. If you spot something that's changed, please let us know at admin@twotravelingtexans.com.

Do you offer refunds?

Because this is a digital product, all sales are final, so we encourage you to review the product details carefully before purchasing. If you have trouble downloading or accessing your file, contact us at admin@twotravelingtexans.com and we'll help or provide a replacement.
