Handling numbers in real life can be a really powerful learning experience, and sharing this type of activity with your child is extraordinarily valuable - it’s very difficult to manage with a class of 30 pupils and it just can’t happen on a screen or in a workbook. The final activity encourages drawing - a fantastic aid to maths - and being what is called in educational lingo ‘open-ended’, allowing your child to make choices, express their creativity and support their independence as well as develop mathematical patterns of thought.
