Christianity: An Introductory Guide

Christianity is an Abrahamic religion (derived from Abraham, a biblical character mentioned in Genesis, who is said to have founded the Hebrew nation) with the predominant belief that God sent his son, Jesus Christ, to save mankind.

Christianity emerged more than 2000 years ago (according to the Christian calendar), with the birth of Jesus Christ in Palestine. Amid a tense political climate, he conveyed a message of love for others, forgiveness and detachment from material possessions. After His death, his main followers, called apostles, took charge of disseminating the teachings and founding the church of Christ.
