Little Bible Explorers: Moses and the Night They Left Egypt | Digital Edition
A difficult night. A hopeful journey.
How can we care for one another when something changes?
Moses and Aaron help the families prepare for the first Passover and their departure from Egypt. Through selected events from Exodus 12–13, this simplified retelling follows a special meal, a hurried departure and guidance by cloud and fire in the wilderness. It ends before Pharaoh’s pursuit and the crossing of the sea.
At home, Maya worries about forgetting something for a family outing. Eli and Mum help her check the small bag, and she learns that she can ask for caring help.

READING INFORMATION
The PDF preserves the square 8 × 8 inch layout. Its text can be selected and searched. The EPUB requires a reader supporting EPUB 3 fixed-layout books. Its text does not reflow or resize independently of the pictures. Complete page text is included in image descriptions, and the contents links to every page. Tablets, computers and colour e-readers are best suited to these illustrated editions.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Children aged 3–8, with parents, carers or teachers who have read the grown-up notes first. Use for shared family Bible reading, home learning or carefully guided Sunday school. Younger children can explore the pictures; older children can discuss the questions and read the Bible passages with an adult.
A NOTE FOR GROWN-UPS
Please read Exodus 12–13 before sharing and decide what your child is ready to hear. This is a difficult account: the full Bible text includes the death of firstborn people and animals, the killing of a lamb and blood on doorposts. This short edition mentions deep sorrow without describing or illustrating those deaths. It omits ritual details and other events; the adult notes explain these choices. It does not replace reading the full Bible account.
Welcome sadness and questions. Do not mock bereaved families or present present-day illness or death as punishment for being naughty. The family outing is a small practice in asking for help, not an equivalent experience to escaping slavery. Grown-ups handle safety decisions; children can ask trusted adults for help.
Passover is a living Jewish festival remembering liberation from slavery. This simplified Christian Bible retelling does not teach a modern Seder or represent every family’s practice. Explore traditions respectfully using trusted resources.
The cloud and fire are particular signs in this Bible account, not directions for children to seek today. The activities do not reenact the ritual or use fire. The pretend bag activity stays at home with a grown-up and uses safe, light objects only.
Bible focus: selected events from Exodus 12:1–14, 21–42 and 13:3–8, 17–22, read in their wider context.
Eli, Maya and Mum are fictional present-day characters. Ancient clothes and settings are artistic interpretations. Illustrations were created with AI assistance and reviewed for this edition.
