Emergency Appeal — We Can't Afford Our Kennel Rent (With Certificate of Thanks!)

💔 Emergency Appeal – Help us keep a roof over our rescue animals' heads

We hate sending messages like this, but we can't do this without you.

Celandine Wood Animal Rescue is a tiny, volunteer-run rescue in the Wirral, and this month we simply don't have the money to pay the rent on our kennels. That's £6,600 we need to find, and without it, the safe space our animals depend on is at risk.

At the same time, we're bursting at the seams. More dogs need our help than we have space for, so we're adding new kennels. We still need £1,450 for two more sets, plus around £1,200 to lay a proper floor underneath them. That needs doing as soon as possible, so the dogs have somewhere clean, dry and safe to stay.

And then there's Scout.

Scout was a puppy who couldn't eat properly. We took him to Leahurst Small Animal Teaching Hospital to find out why, and while he was there he became seriously ill with sepsis and acute kidney injury. He fought like a trooper and came back to us bright and playful, but the underlying problem was never solved. He was too small for the imaging that might have given us answers, and every meal carried the risk of choking.

We did everything we could for him. In the end, the kindest thing left to do was to let him go.

We don't regret a single penny we spent trying. That's what we're here for, and we'd do it again tomorrow for the next one. But his care was extensive, and we're now facing a bill of around £4,000–£5,000 with nothing in the bank to meet it.
