Lewis Chessmen – Complete 3D Printable Chess Set
Lewis Chessmen – Complete 3D Printable Chess Set
Bring one of the most iconic medieval chess sets to your gaming table.
This complete chess set is based on surviving pieces from the famous Lewis Chessmen, carved in walrus ivory and probably produced in Scandinavia during the 12th century. Rather than creating a generic medieval chess set, I used genuine historical pieces as references, keeping their distinctive proportions, expressions, clothing and wonderfully unusual character.
Both sides use different historical examples, giving the two armies their own personality while remaining clearly part of the same set.
The set includes all the pieces needed for a complete game of chess: kings, queens, bishops, knights, warders/rooks and pawns.
The models have been prepared for 3D printing, while retaining much of the slightly irregular, hand-carved appearance of the originals. The photograph show one set printed in resin.
These models can work equally well as a functional chess set, a painting project, a historical display piece, or simply for anyone who loves medieval art and the unique character of the Lewis Chessmen.

This is a digital product for 3D printing. No physical miniatures are included.
