A woman asks a stranger to drive her 1140 kilometres - at night, right now, without explanation. He agrees, and stays silent almost the whole way.

Between their brief exchanges, other spaces open up - an olive grove, the shutter of a Tuscan house, Paris streets that return only as a smell. None of them is where it seems to be.

A book about a road that has a distance, but no address.
