Day 3 takes you beyond the classic tourist center and into a different side of Madrid — a city shaped by industrial transformation, contemporary culture, urban spaces and multicultural neighborhoods.

The route connects:

• Matadero Madrid — a former industrial complex transformed into a cultural and creative space

• Madrid Río — a large riverside park along the Manzanares

• Lavapiés — one of Madrid’s most multicultural neighborhoods, known for its street life and urban character

• Gran Vía — Madrid’s iconic commercial avenue

• Edificio Telefónica — one of the symbols of Madrid’s modernization and skyline

• Mercado de San Antón — a contemporary food market and the final stop of the route

Along the way, you’ll also encounter places such as Puente de Toledo, Puente Monumental de Arganzuela, Mercado de Antón Martín, Cine Doré and the Monumento a los Abogados de Atocha.

The complete route is approximately 7–8 km, with around 2 h 15 min–3 h 40 min of walking time and approximately 4–6 hours including stops.

🚶 A flexible route

The route is designed as a light walking route with an optional transport shortcut.

After reaching Puente de Toledo, you can use a city bus towards Embajadores to reduce the amount of walking and save energy for exploring Lavapiés.

Recommended starting time: 9:30–10:00 AM.

The route can also be adapted depending on your interests, energy level and how long you want to spend at each stop.
