Dividing Fractions the EZway
Dividing fractions means finding how many groups of a fraction are in another fraction. To divide fractions, keep the first fraction the same, change the division sign to multiplication, and flip the second fraction upside down (take the reciprocal). Then multiply straight across.
A common mistake students make is forgetting to flip the second fraction or flipping the wrong fraction. Another mistake is multiplying before changing the division problem into multiplication.
