The ONVR Mk2 is an advanced autonomous rover designed to traverse Venusian landscapes and withstand the searing, crushing atmosphere.

For game development use in Roblox Studio.

[If you would like to test it, you can here]

This is an autonomous, self driving and obstacle navigating rover, the suspension is my own concept and is based on a previous rover that I designed a few years ago. The ONVR Mk2 is an updated version of the old one.

Specifications:

Integrated into the ONVR’s chassis are two pressurised compartments housing the main computer and batteries, the compartments are connected by dense, insulated cable and cooling tubes with fins to increase surface area, radiate heat into the atmosphere and reduce the internal temperature.

The compartments are filled with Nitrogen gas at 900 PSI / 62 Bars (compared to the 1350 PSI / 92 Bars pressure of the atmosphere of Venus) to decrease the difference between internal and external pressures for supported structural integrity.

All electronics within the main compartment are covered in an array of cooling fins to radiate heat to the interior Nitrogen gas which acts as a coolant fluid, in which it is cycled between the two compartments and cooled via active and passive cooling processes.

The ONVR also has 4 external tanks on the underside which hold a vacuum, these tanks are strengthened and protected by composite materials and reflective coatings in order to support such high pressures. By holding a vacuum, these tanks weigh significantly less whilst still displacing a large amount of air, especially when considering the density of the Venusian atmosphere. As a result, there is a net buoyant force that is beneficial to the ONVR to some significance.

To visualise this effect easier, imagine the rover was instead placed 1km underwater. As you can imagine, these tanks would be quite buoyant and therefore give an upwards thrust to the rover, adding some degree of protection to its structural integrity.

It has been designed like this for the purpose of counteracting the strong, crushing pressure and gravity of Venus, which would otherwise cause the ONVR to collapse under the intense weight.

The cameras on board the ONVR are embedded within the cooled compartments to protect them from the atmosphere, in order to photograph the surrounding environment there are protruding enclosures that reflect light through into each of the camera sensors on the other side of small sealed windows.
