Is Allah of the Quran and YAHWEH of the Bible truly the same God?

Allah of Islam claims in the Qur’an (29:46) to be the same God who revealed Himself as “I AM” (YAHWEH) to Moses and who has historically been worshipped by the People of the Book—Jews and Christians. Many Muslims point to the use of the word Allah in the Arabic Bible as proof that Christians worship the same God. However, Arab Christians do not worship Allah revealed in the Qur’an.

This raises a critical question: Is Allah of Islam truly YAHWEH the God of Abraham or does Allah disguise himself as the God of Abraham? Is this disguise the spiritual deception foretold before the rise of Islam? Does Allah of Islam match the attributes, actions, character and covenants of YAHWEH revealed in the earlier scriptures?

Drawing directly from the Quran, the Bible, and early Islamic and biblical sources Counterfeiting YAHWEH examines these questions in detail. It explores the Quran’s revision of key biblical events, particularly the denial of the historically attested crucifixion of Jesus. In addition, the book analyzes Islam’s appropriation of biblical figures such as Abraham, Moses and Jesus as a means of presenting itself as a continuation of the earlier Scriptures while essentially rejecting them. Rather than correcting the previous scriptures, as Muslims claim, the Quran fundamentally departs from them and, in doing so, excludes Muslims from participation in YAHWEH’s covenants, salvation and the promise of eternal life.

Written for Christians engaged in evangelism, apologetics, and outreach to Muslims (as well as for Muslims willing to examine the evidence) the book addresses one of the most foundational questions in interfaith dialogue.

“Counterfeiting YAHWEH challenges assumptions, confronts claims, and calls readers to examine the evidence.”
