Above The City Hat
Above The City Hat a striking geometric two-coloured mosaic “slouchy” hat pattern where only one colour is used in each round. It is an enjoyable knit, suitable for ambitious novices who can knit, purl, increase and decrease working in the round on circular needles. For more experienced knitters, this is a quick, relaxing project and stash buster to gift or treat yourself.
Materials and Fit:
Yarn
RiverKnits Nene DK, 100% Bluefaced Leicester Wool, 225m per 100g
Main Colour – Shepherd’s Warning – 60g / 135m, 148yds needed
Contrast Colour – Baa – 40g / 90m, 98.5 yds needed
Materials
3.5mm and 4mm circular needles, 40cm long.
4mm double-pointed needles, magic loop or small circulars will be needed for the decreasing section of the hat.
Sizes
S(S, M, L, XL) to fit 20(21, 22, 23, 24) inches or 51(53, 56, 58, 61) centimetres
The above sizes are for the rib section only before an increase to the same stitch count for the colour work to begin.
Tension/Gauge
Gauge is worked in the round on 4mm needles.
Stockinette stitch: 21 stitches x 24 rounds = 10cm/4ins square
Mosaic colourwork pattern:
Width: 16 stitches = 6.5cm/2.5ins. Height: 32 rounds = 8.5cm/3.25ins
