The Meanwhile in Maine eBook features the Almost Home Sweater and Almost Home Vest. This set of designs cocoons you in gorgeous cables and broken seed stitch. The single colored sweater features long sleeves and a long arc along the hem. The multi-colored vest is sleeveless (of course) and features a shallow arc along the hem. The pattern allows for mixing and matching between the sweater and the vest styles relying on the knitter to track rows and follow "At the same time" directions.

Stunning cables, inspired by locks and keys, cascade down the center back in Almost Home. Feelings of comfort embody the Meanwhile in Maine design set with encompassing cables and a cozy cocoon collar. Decorative darts on the front, back, and sleeves accent the keyed leaf design. From unpacking to snuggling in by the fire, Almost Home envelops you in fibery love.

Almost Home vest features a few of the optional design modifications, most dramatically, the option for less of a slope on the short rows in the lower body, which you can also apply to the sweater. The vest features a sleeve trim rather than full sleeves. Almost Home vest was knit in two solid colors, which highlight the cabling and textured stitch pattern in a different way than the speckled yarn of the sweater version.

The tech edited and test knit intermediate to advanced level pattern is fully written. The cable patterns are written and charted. The pattern includes a schematic and how-to stitch video for the k2togfb.

Special Notes:

•Constructed top down with “Lindsay's Disappearing CO” method. This cast on trick creates a stabilizing seam without the need for finishing work. To work the trick, hold two DPNs in your dominant hand one DPN will be for the back and the other DPN will be for the front. Note: using a long tail cast on for the back and front separately and seaming at the end may be substituted if desired.

•Mark It: Almost Home Sweater uses multiple named markers to indicate stitch pattern changes. Once markers are placed slip as you come to them.

•Stitch It: k2togfb is a zero st count change detail stitch!

•Substitute It: if subbing yarn, the “If subbing yarn” directions are a measurement conversion of the rows / rnds immediately preceding it.

•Watch It: check out the Knit Eco Chic blog, Meanwhile in Maine Videos, for a video demonstrating the k2togfb stitch here: https://knitecochic.com/meanwhileinmainevideos/

The Meanwhile in Maine sweater design began as a blog series that tracked the building of our future home in Maine along with the sweater I was designing for wearing up there in the cold northern climate when I received the yarn as a Christmas present back in 2020. A lot changed over these five years! But I am ecstatic to announce the release of Almost Home Sweater and Almost Home Vest, the two designs in the Meanwhile in Maine eBook. I'm also pleased to report that we moved in about a year and a half ago, so yes, the design process went just slightly longer than the build. To track the design process, check out the Meanwhile in Maine blog series on my website: https://knitecochic.com/meanwhile-in-maine/ - the first one installation is from August of 2021.
