Aquill
Inspired by the English countryside and its flora. Aquill is the same construction as my other pattern, Heddle, and it is a very simple top-down shawlette, that’s modular. In other words, the pattern repeat can be worked any number of times, so you can work the pattern to the length that your yarn quantity will stretch to. Made in collaboration with John Arbon.
Aquill uses the beautiful merino yarn - Knit by Numbers 4ply in 3 graded colours.
RECOMMENDED YARN
4 ply/fingering weight yarn. Quantity between 380-730m [416-799yds].

John Arbon Knit by Numbers 4 Ply (100g; 400m [438yds]; 100% Organically Farmed Falklands Merino; 4ply/fingering). Quantity is adjustable.

Length 195cm [77”] / Depth 41cm [16”]
GAUGE
22 stitches by 30 rows = 10cm [4”] in stocking stitch on smaller needle.
Check your gauge.
NEEDLES & ACCESSORIES
4mm [US Size 6] 80cm [32”] circular needle (due to number of stitches) or size to obtain gauge.
Note: for larger shawls, you may find it more comfortable to work on a 100cm [40”] circular needle.
6mm [US Size 10] needle for cast off edge.
