Lia and her friend are driving home after she has gotten cast applied with nylon hose over it to to protect her cold toes. However, when they have car trouble, Lia and her friend must crutch home the few blocks to her apartment. It's a problem because Lia has not gotten used to her crutches and they are bothering her underarms. It doesn't help that there are autumn leaves strewn all over the street making it difficult to crutch. So she and her friend stop when they find a bench so that her friend can massage her cold exposed toes through her nylons. Then they continue on where Lia must deal with another challenge -- crutching up the stairs to her walk up apartment. It's clear Lia is struggling throughout the clip.
