The Basics
The WhyNot Socks came about when I decided to just play around with yarn and different stitch patterns. After a few failures, I ended up loving what you see here. Socks in non-superwash sock yarn? Why not? Lace and garter stitch? Why not? Picot cuff? Why not?

This pattern has been professionally tech edited and test knit. Test knitters include envista, marinafluit, and tlakeisha.

Sizing
S/M, M/L
7.5 (9) inches 19 (23) cm foot circumference. Foot and leg length are adjustable. Socks shown measure 7.5 inches (19 cm) on a US woman’s size 6 foot.

Yarn
370 (400) yards/338 (366) meters fingering weight yarn. Adjustments to the pattern may change the final yardage requirements.

I used Garthenor Organic Snowdonia Sock in the color Glaslyn.

Needles
US 1 (2.25 mm) double point needles, or size needed to achieve gauge.

While the pattern is written for double pointed needles, you may use any method you prefer for working a small circumference in the round.

Notions
Stitch marker(s), yarn needle.

Gauge
32 stitches and 40 rounds/4 inches in stockinette stitch, after blocking. Note: The Garthenor Organic Snowdonia Sock blooms quite a bit after blocking. Check your gauge if you use the suggested yarn.
