STRUM! is a love letter to the contemporary harp, written as a vision and direction for its vocabulary in the 21st century. Each of the four movements in this concerto is based on a style of string music that was formative to my musical or personal life, ranging from heavy metal to Filipino rondalla. The first three movements showcase a unique, contemporary technique developed for the harp. In the final movement, I synthesize these techniques kaleidoscopically within a mosaic of harp canon pastiches.
