Programa: Micro Resiliencia, basado en el Best Seller de Bonnie ST John
La micro-resiliencia es la capacidad de recuperarse rápidamente de situaciones estresantes y adversidades cotidianas. Se trata de pequeñas acciones que podemos tomar para construir nuestra resiliencia y aumentar nuestra capacidad de recuperación ante los desafíos diarios.
A diferencia de la resiliencia tradicional, que se enfoca en recuperarse de grandes traumas o desastres, la micro-resiliencia se enfoca en las pequeñas cosas que pueden afectar nuestro bienestar emocional y mental en la vida cotidiana.
Al practicar la micro-resiliencia, podemos aprender a enfrentar los obstáculos con mayor confianza y optimismo, y desarrollar la capacidad de recuperarnos rápidamente de eventos estresantes como una reunión difícil en el trabajo, un problema de tráfico o una discusión con un ser querido. A través de pequeñas acciones y cambios en nuestra perspectiva, podemos entrenar nuestra mente y cuerpo para ser más resistentes y adaptativos ante los desafíos diarios.
St. John ha escrito varios libros, incluyendo "Micro-Resiliencia: Pequeñas acciones, grandes cambios" (en inglés: "Micro-Resilience: Minor Shifts for Major Boosts in Focus, Drive, and Energy"), que se enfoca en cómo las pequeñas acciones y cambios en la perspectiva pueden ayudarnos a construir la resiliencia y aumentar nuestra capacidad de recuperación ante los desafíos diarios. También es autora de "How Strong Women Pray" y "Succeeding Sane: Making Room for Joy in a Crazy World".
Además de su trabajo como autora, St. John es una oradora motivacional y consultora que ha trabajado con diversas organizaciones y empresas en temas de liderazgo, diversidad e inclusión. Bonnie St. John is an American former Paralympic skier, author, and public speaker. St. John had her right leg amputated below the knee when she was 5 years old. Despite these challenges, she went on to excel as an athlete, a scholar, a mother and a businesswoman. She is the first African-American to win medals in Winter Paralympic competition as a ski racer, and the first African-American to medal in any paralympic event. St. John earned bronze and silver medals in several alpine skiing events during the 1984 Winter Paralympics.
Early life and education
Bonnie St. John was born on November 7, 1964, in Detroit, Michigan. She was born with a rare condition called focal femoral deficiency, which caused her right leg to be shorter than her left. When she was five years old, she had her right leg amputated below the knee.
Despite her disability, St. John was a determined and active child. She played basketball, softball, and ran track. She also began skiing at the age of 12.
St. John attended The Bishop's School in La Jolla, California, where she was a standout athlete. She was the captain of the ski team and the basketball team. She also graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1986 with a degree in government.
Paralympic career
After graduating from Harvard, St. John decided to pursue a career in skiing. She competed in the 1984 Winter Paralympics in Innsbruck, Austria. She won a silver medal in the slalom, a bronze medal in the giant slalom, and was awarded a silver medal for overall performance.
St. John's accomplishments at the 1984 Winter Paralympics made her a national hero. She was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated and was named one of the "five most inspiring women in America" by NBC Nightly News.
Later career
After her retirement from competitive skiing, St. John continued to pursue a career in public service. She worked as a director for the White House National Economic Council under President Bill Clinton. She also served as a spokesperson for the National Organization on Disability.
In addition to her work in public service, St. John is also a successful author and motivational speaker. She has written several books, including "No Excuses: The True Story of an American Champion" and "The Bonnie St. John Story." She is also a frequent speaker at schools and conferences.
