Rob's Pod Go - The Hacker And Mover Pack Collection
Hi there and welcome!
This patch pack is different from my other ones as it has been built to use the hidden possibilities of the Pod Go. It will enable you to get way more out of your Pod Go than you usually can.
The patches in this pack are of two varieties :
- Initial patches
- Mover patches
The initial patches have a collection of hacked Pod Go patches where for instance the looper has been removed. Many people do not use the send/return on the Pod Go but as it is standard you always lose a slot that you could use for an extra pedal. Line 6 did this on purpose so there would be no complaints about a lack of processing power making it impossible to select some of the pedals. This is not a problem however, as the Pod Go will grey out any effects that would take too much processing when there is not enough left. You simple cannot crash the machine, the limitations are there so no one will start complaining to Line 6. Which I totally understand. But those limitations are now No More!
This set should save you many many hours of work. You do not have to go through the whole text editing process to alter the patches.
The clean patches, starting with 'init', are there for you to use immediately! It almost goes without saying that all the patches have been tested on my Pod Go and they all work perfectly fine. They are supposed to form the basis for any new sounds you wish to create. If you do not want a Wah pedal just pick the init patch 'Init No Wah', no looper necessary? Pick 'Init No Loop', etcetera.
The movers patches address a different issue : Most Pod Go owners have a specific sequence for their pedals. They will for instance almost always put the chorus after the amp so the effect will be stereo, they will typically put the compressor early in the pedal chain. These are all good practices but by no means the only way to put your pedal chain together! Sometimes moving a pedal/effect to a different location makes a bit difference. In real life this is hard because no guitarist will want to rebuild his pedal chain in between songs(well I wouldn't and my band mates would get mighty impatient...). On the Pod Go it is of course just a matter of choosing a different patch.
The patches I have included are there not so much for the sounds, but more for you to see what you can do with deviating orders of your pedals. You can just move the blocks to a different location in the chain and hear the result. Experiment away!
I have also thrown in my bass guitar patch as a bonus. I use that to play bass on my guitar and it uses the Bass Octaver in the Pod Go.
The patches have been created using several guitars :
- Squier Telecaster with Seymour Duncan Little '59 Tele pickups
- Harley Benton HB35Plus Hollow Body ES335 style guitar
- Ibanez AZES40 Strat type guitar
The soundbites have all been played with my Ibanez guitar so some will sound better if you use them with a double humbucker guitar or a guitar with an HS(Humbucker + Single Coil) configuration. To name but one; the Steve Hackett patch screams out for a Les Paul style double humbucker guitar.
As usual the patches in this pack do not use Impulse Responses and require the Pod Go to be at software version 2.0 because they use the new amps and cabinets.

A sample preview of several patches can be downloaded from this page. It is an mp3 that demonstrates a good number of the patches in this pack.
Please forgive me for any misteaks I made.
