An engaging and visual task to use with your clients who are planning a caesarean birth.
Getting your clients up, moving and doing a physical task is a wonderful way to keep them engaged
These cards off a great way to physically show your clients how many options they potentially have when it comes to planning a caesarean birth.
How to use them:
There are 3 main ways to use the cards:
Print off the cards, laminate them if possible and then cut them out, use in one of the following four ways:
1/ Lay the ‘yes’ ‘no’ and ‘maybe’ cards at the top of the table. Then categorise the remaining cards into ‘before’ ‘during’ and ‘after’ so that it flows in a logical manner. Ask them to work their way through each individual card and place them on the ‘yes’ ‘no’ or ‘maybe’ pile. If they are unsure what something means, they can either ask you during the task if you remain with them or at the end if you leave the room.
2/ If you are doing this task with a group, you can place the ‘before’ cards on one table/surface, the ‘during’ cards on another table or surface and the ‘after’ cards on another. Get each couple / family to start at a different table and work their way around as above (you can print off more ‘yes’ ‘no’ and ‘maybe’ cards for this task.
3/ Put all of the cards in a bag and ask each person to pick out between 1-5 cards depending on whether it is a group or not - ask them to discuss - this is a great conversation starter, do they know what it is? Have they heard of it before? Is it important to them?
4/ Use the PDF version with your online clients, show them on the screen each option and ask them to discuss. You can either do this with them and speak about each option or allow them time in a breakout room to do it on their own.
