Phantoms of the Lake follows Ah’etta of the Vvenda, a people who once ruled the mainland before being driven into exile by strange humanoid entities known only as the Phantoms. Forced to resettle across a scattered archipelago, the Vvenda survived by forging a new order: the Bannermen—voluntary guardians sworn to protect their people at any cost.

When eerie whispers begin drifting from the abandoned mainland, believed to be the voices of the Phantoms themselves, the Bannermen face an impossible duty. Only one among them may return to their ancestral home and attempt the ancient ritual that keeps the Phantoms at bay. That volunteer is honored—and burdened—with a singular title:
