This high school sketchbook program for grades 9 to 12 helps teen artists move beyond practice into personal expression, identity exploration and artistic growth. It includes 30 sketchbook assignments and 15 interactive sketchbook pages that ask students to reflect, explore and create.

Use it in a visual arts class, an AP art program, a mixed-grade elective or a homeschool studio. The prompts work as daily warm-ups, bell ringers, independent projects or a semester-long sketchbook practice that builds creative habits and confidence.

WHAT TEACHERS ARE SAYING

  • 30 Sketchbook Assignments, each with a full-page poster prompt (text and visual sample) and a glue-in prompt (four small versions per page with cutting guides)

HOW TO USE IT

The poster prompt is your visual hook for the day's assignment. Laminate or project it to set expectations for quality, experimentation and completeness.

The glue-in prompt is a student-sized version for multi-day projects. Students glue it to the top of the page or opposite the drawing area, which keeps their sketchbooks organized. The interactive pages can be cut out and glued into any 8.5 x 11 sketchbook, or kept in a binder or duotang.

FAQ

Does it work for students with little art experience?

Yes. The prompts are open-ended, so they suit beginners and advanced students, and they encourage reflection and creative risk-taking.

Can I use it for a full year?

Yes. With 30 assignments and 15 interactive pages, there is enough for daily or weekly sketchbook use across a semester or full school year.

Can I use it for homeschool high school art?

Yes. It gives structure and purpose while leaving room for independent expression, which suits self-paced high school art programs.

What size sketchbook do I need?

An 8.5 x 11 inch sketchbook or larger works best. A binder or duotang works if you do not have a sketchbook.
