This is an excellent read providing a clear overview of the history of the Church in Singapore, right up to the year 2002.  Now updated three times, the book seeks not only to chronicle the major events that took place but it also aims to provide an understanding as to why these occurred and how they affected the life of the church. Themes like reasons for the failure of early missionaries, contributions of mission schools, coming of Asian immigrant Christians, church’s response to social needs, legacy of John Sung’s ministry, effects of the Pacific War, rise of parachurch organizations, spiritual renewal in the 70s, changed mood of the 80s and continued growth in the 90s, are discussed frankly.

The author believes that behind the movements of men and nations is the unerring hand of God. In His Good Time attempts to show how this has been so.
