Passport for Gifted Learners

Passport for Gifted Learners is a flexible beginning-of-the-year experience designed to help students explore different ways of thinking while giving teachers an opportunity to learn more about their gifted learners.

Students travel through eight destinations, each featuring a different type of challenge—from puzzles, logic, and mathematical reasoning to creativity, collaboration, curiosity, building, and productive struggle. Students record the challenges they try, reflect on how they approached them, and collect passport stamps along the way.

The activities are intentionally flexible so teachers can use games, puzzles, STEM materials, math challenges, and other resources they already have. As students work, teachers can observe how they solve problems, communicate, collaborate, persist, change strategies, and respond when an answer isn't immediately obvious.

The Passport can be used as a two-day back-to-school experience or revisited throughout the year with new challenges at each destination. It turns the traditional beginning-of-the-year activity into an opportunity to start discovering how each gifted learner thinks and learns.

A note from the Author: 30 pages to help support gifted student learning, ideas for packaging this as a Back to School theme of Destinations/Journeys with bookmarks, signs and recommended activities. This is a Volume One starter kit as I will be developing more "stations" to go with the theme so it can be used all year long.
