Split or Stack

Split or Stack is a multiplayer math review game for grades 4–5. Teams solve multi-digit multiplication one step at a time. Each problem, choose Split it (area model and partial products) or the standard algorithm, then check each other's work and call Challenge! on mistakes.

Skills: Estimating products by rounding, area models, partial products, splitting one factor or both factors by place value, multiplying by multiples of 10 and 100, adding partial products, the standard algorithm with carrying, multiplying by the ones and tens digits with a placeholder zero, adding rows, checking and correcting a partner's steps.

New problems every game, with Easy, Medium and Hard levels. Every miss shows a short explanation.
